Working With Us
Yes, and beyond. We serve clients in all 50 states and work with nonresidents and foreign owners of U.S. entities located outside the United States. Everything can be handled remotely through secure document upload, video consultations, and electronic signatures. The one exception is ITIN applications, where in-person document verification is available at our Wellington, Florida office.
Every engagement is quoted in writing before any work begins. Pricing depends on entity type, filing complexity, and the number of jurisdictions involved. You will never receive an invoice for an amount you did not agree to in advance.
It depends on your situation. Most clients bring W-2s or 1099s, last year's return, SSNs or ITINs for everyone on the return, mortgage interest and property tax statements, and records for deductions or credits. If you have foreign income, foreign accounts, rental property, or sold U.S. property, the list is different. We'll match it to your situation before we meet.
We use a secure client portal for document sharing. You'll receive a link after booking. No emailing sensitive documents.
An Enrolled Agent is federally licensed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and holds unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS in all fifty states. The credential is earned through a three-part examination on individual, business, and representation matters, with annual continuing education. Our Enrolled Agent has held the credential since 2010.
International & Cross-Border
Yes. Sanova operates through an IRS-authorized Certifying Acceptance Agent, which means we verify your identification documents in person and submit the application on your behalf. Your passport stays with you. Most applicants who apply on their own have to mail original documents to the IRS and wait weeks to get them back.
Under FIRPTA, the buyer is generally required to withhold 15% of the gross sales price when the seller is a foreign person. That is withholding on the sale price, not on your profit, so it is often far more than the tax you actually owe. By applying for a withholding certificate on Form 8288-B before closing, you can reduce the amount withheld or recover it faster. Timing matters, so contact us before the closing date, not after.
Almost certainly yes. A U.S. LLC with a foreign owner is required to file a pro forma Form 1120 with Form 5472 each year, even with no revenue and no activity. Reportable transactions include formation costs and capital contributions. The penalty for failing to file is substantial. This filing cannot be e-filed and is frequently missed by owners and by preparers unfamiliar with foreign-owned entities.
Nonresidents file Form 1040-NR. Common situations include U.S. rental property, income from a U.S. partnership reported on a K-1, U.S. source investment income, and the sale of U.S. real estate. Treaty provisions between your country and the United States may reduce what you owe.
If you are a U.S. person and the combined value of your foreign financial accounts exceeded $10,000 at any point during the year, you are required to file an FBAR with FinCEN. Form 8938 may also apply, with different thresholds. These are separate filings from your tax return and carry significant penalties. If you have missed prior years, there are established procedures to come into compliance.
IRS Matters & Tax Professionals
Yes. Our Enrolled Agent authority allows us to represent you before the IRS in all fifty states. That covers notices and proposed adjustments, examinations, years you have not filed, and collection matters. The first step is always the same: we pull your IRS transcripts so we are working from the record rather than from assumptions.
Yes. We offer flexible payment plans for larger engagements. Ask us about options when you book your consultation.
Yes. We offer scope-limited Certifying Acceptance Agent support for other preparers. We handle the ITIN application and document verification only, and your client stays yours. This is designed for firms that need CAA capability without referring away the rest of the relationship.
Yes. We work in English and Spanish across meetings, documents, and IRS correspondence.
